February Recap: 2024
Hi! Nice to see you around here! I've read a few "monthly recaps" on different blogs, so I thought I'd try one of my own πSince February is over and March has officially started, here's my February Recap!
I started posting on the blog again! I changed the name of the website from "Sister in the Middle" to "Emeren's Corner" in order to make this more of a lifestyle blog. It's fun to write, even if I don't have many followers!
My aunt and uncle came to visit from far away! Let's just say that driving without stopping, it would take almost two days to get to where they live π They just left yesterday (March 6th) and I already miss them so much πWe had such a great time though - definitely going to be a highlight of my year! π
I finally beat a swimming record of mine - I swam a 50 free (50 yard freestyle) in 40 seconds - my record is 42! I don't know if that's fast or not, I haven't been on the swim team for a while lol. The lifeguards tell me I'm fast though, haha.
Played ukulele a lot! I started teaching myself in January, and I'm really enjoying it! I've mostly been playing "If you're happy and you know it," "The Wheels on the Bus," and Daniel Tiger songs (thanks little sis!)π But I've also been playing Ellie Holcomb songs and a song for my mom for Mother's Day!
Started a new devotional about hope with my friends - we use You Version to do it long-distance! If you want to try it, you can find it here!
Finally mastered spelling "definitely" haha! For the longest time I've always messed that up. I am a good speller, but that word always tricked me π
I got 100 on a creative project for literature, which you can read about here! I worked super hard on it and was glad to see that my work paid off π
Books I read:
This month I re-read I am Malala, which I highly recommend! I chose to read it kinda last minute - I knew we were going on a 1-hour car ride each way so of course I grabbed it on my way out the door. I am Malala is very inspirational, and Malala has a great sense of humor! I read the Young Readers Edition because that's what was on my shelf, but I plan to read the regular version someday.
I mentioned in my post about living in the moment that I read Our Town. I enjoyed reading the play, and I enjoyed the message!
The Crucible was a book I needed to read for school, and it was pretty good! The book is about the Salem Witch Trials. It was a little tense!
I also read Macbeth for school. Not exactly heartwarming haha, but it was interesting.
I started reading The Lord of the Flies (also for school) and I think it's my favorite school book this month (so far!) It's about boys who were stranded on an island. I finished it this month (March) and let me just say - it's pretty violent π But I recommend it!
Movies I watched:
My siblings and I re-watched a favorite of ours, Paddington 2. I just love the Paddington movies! They are hilarious. My mom and I re-watched The Sound of Music, which is definitely one of my favorites π I just love Maria's personality! A couple of us also saw Mary Poppins, which strangely I haven't seen before even though it's such a classic! On the day we watched it, Eliyah was already singing "A Spoonful of Sugar" all over the house π My mom and I watched Pocahontas and Pocahontas 2 which were both great! I've wanted to watch them for a while. Have you guys seen Sing 2? It is sooo great! We watched it this month and it is so funny π Even my dad enjoyed it, which is kinda rare because he isn't a huge movie fan!
We watched a lot of movies this month! We don't usually watch too many.
Favorite post:
Probably 6 Ways to Live in the Moment, but I also enjoyed writing my first Happy List! I enjoyed writing everything, actually π
