The Get to Know Ya Book Tag

Hey hey everyone! I saw this tag on Pearl's blog. After clicking around, I found that she got it from Liesel's blog, Quote Unquote, and Liesel got it from Kristin Kraves Books', and Kristin got it from Thrice Read. It ended there at the "Page not found" 😂

Well anyway, I thought this would be fun to try!

your favorite book of all time

Ugghh, we have to start with my least favorite question. Lol. I really do not have a favorite book (well maybe except for the Bible), but this one is definitely up there. Some things are so relatable, and I love graphic novels!

your favorite book five years ago

I still like this book, actually! But I have no idea where my copy went 😔 I remember reading this book while doing a lemonade stand. 2019 was also the year I read the Harry Potter series, which was one of my favorites of course 😊

your favorite duology/trilogy/series

I love love love the Lord of the Rings trilogy! I read it when I was 10/11 and it's been my favorite ever since. I think liking the Lord of the Rings and not liking Harry Potter is common, but I like both😉

the last book you read

I had seen this around and it sounded like a good book so I put it on my birthday wishlist! I read it on a road trip, and it was really good 😁 The story is about a girl and her two siblings who live together while their father is away fighting in WW2. Highly recommend!

the last book of poetry you read

I don't think I've read an actual poetry book, but I did read several poems for school. This one was one of my favorites, although I listened to it rather than read it! I also liked Sonnet 13: My Mistress' Eyes Are Nothing Like the Sun and O Captain! My Captain! I thought it was interesting that the "Captain" was supposed to symbolize Abraham Lincoln after the Civil War.

a book that most influenced your life

Besides the Bible, I'd say the Magic Tree House series has probably influenced my life the most. This is the series that made me fall in love with reading. I started reading it when I was in 1st grade. I remember it took me forever to finish these and now I can sit down and finish it in 10 or 15 minutes lol. (Yes, I still re-read them from time to time 😂)Now my little brother is in 1st grade and he loves it too!

(I just realized this paragraph sounds really similar to Pearl's 😅)

a book that made you cry

I don't usually cry when I read books, but this one was pretty sad. (And I was 10 when I read this.) The story takes place in World War 2, when many parents sent their children away to be safe from the bombings. 13-year-old Ken is sent away along with 90 other children, only to have their ship torpedoed. The food and water on the boat isn't nearly enough for all the people the lifeboat holds. It was a great book! Another book that made me cry was Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, for obvious reasons if you have read it.

a book that made you laugh

I've been reading these books for so long - I don't even remember when I started, and that's saying a lot coming from me! (Just ask my brother. I remember way too many things.) The wording, the pictures, the worst possible scenario always happening - these books are hilarious! I'm always remembering a funny part from the books that relate to something going on.

a book that you dfn'd

I got The Hiding Place for my 10th birthday. I started it but I guess it didn't really hold my attention as a 10-year-old. I love the story of Corrie Ten Boom, though! I should really get around to reading it.

a book you are excited to read

I have this checked out on Libby right now! Once I get the time, and finish my other book, Dust, I will definitely read this. It sounds like a great book and I want to see if my mom and I would enjoy watching the series.

Your turn!
