from sister to sister: helpful tips for your life // volume 1

Hi there! Welcome or welcome back to my blog! Today is National Siblings Day, and I thought it would be a perfect day to start this series. The series is called "From Sister to Sister." Before I get into the actual post, let me share what this series is about!

About the series

In "From Sister to Sister," I will share tips that I've learned in my time as a sister. I'll include things you might expect from a series like this, but I'll also share totally random things (that will actually come in handy!)This series is designed to help YOU on your journey through sisterhood! Each volume will be a fairly short post. Feel free to leave tips you have learned from your life in the comments, and I might just feature them in my next post πŸ˜‰

All right, let's get into it!

  • If you need to wake your little sibling up, (in the morning or from a nap) try playing some upbeat music to get them in the right mood 😊Eliyah loves Sing: Remembering Songs and Sing: Creation Songs, both by Ellie Holcomb.
  • Try to say "no" less. Whenever you feel like you want to say no, try to rephrase it. For example, instead of "don't go in my room" say "please stay in here."
  • Have a sunny attitude when possible. Sometimes a fun attitude is all you need to put your little sib in a good mood! This won't always be possible of course, since there are days that you'll feel down, but try your best!
  • Put a fun activity for your little sibs in your purse. This comes in super handy when you are both crammed in the backseat and they are starting to get bored (especially when you're trying to enjoy a book!)
  • Don't be bossy. This one can be really hard sometimes. You are just trying to help your sibling, after all. But being bossy can actually backfire. Instead of acting like their parent/teacher, act like their friend. (Because that is what you are, after all!)
  • Listen to both sides. When you're in charge of two younger siblings, there will be situations where they are blaming each other or something (you know what I mean πŸ˜‰) Always listen to both sides before judging. Even if you have a favorite sibling, or one is more believable than the other.

What have you learned as a sibling?

Please comment your tips down below! I may feature them in the next volume πŸ˜‰

Adieu!

  1. Wonderful tips! I love working with little kids at my church and this is helpful! I really like that you talk about using positive words/reinforcement instead of just telling your siblings “no” and being negative.
I also love Ellie Holcomb’s music and I think it’s a great idea to play it in the morning to help wake kiddos up! Smart! 😊

    1. Oooh thank you! I work with little kids at my church too! For a while I actually wrote a newsletter for the congregation to read, but I haven't made one in a couple months since I've been busy. Have you listened to Ellie Holcomb's new album?

    3. Yeah, I love it! My little sister does too. I think it's so cool that she made the album using her "memory Mondays"!
